Draft — pending legal review. This describes how SOVR works today; it is not yet a finalized legal agreement.

The short version

SOVR has no accounts and asks for no email or phone number. Your keys are generated in your browser and never sent to us. We run a relay that forwards end-to-end-encrypted messages we cannot read.

What stays on your device

Your recovery phrase and private keys are generated and stored on your device. We never receive them.

Message contents are end-to-end encrypted on your device before they leave it. The relay forwards ciphertext and cannot decrypt it.

What the relay can see

To forward a message, relay.sovr.life necessarily handles connection metadata: the network address you connect from, the inbox topics you publish to or subscribe to, message sizes, and timing. This metadata is used only to deliver messages.

Undelivered messages for an offline recipient are held briefly so they can be delivered, then dropped. We do not sell or share this data.

Optional backups

If you choose to back up your recovery phrase, it is encrypted with a password you set before it is stored. The password is never sent to us and we cannot decrypt the backup without it.

Payments and public chains

Bitcoin and PAXG transactions you send settle on public blockchains. Amounts, addresses, and timing on those chains are public and are not controlled by SOVR.

No third-party tracking

The marketing site and app do not embed third-party analytics or advertising trackers. The GIF picker, when you use it, requests GIFs from Tenor.

Your control

Because there is no account, you can stop using SOVR at any time by clearing the app's local data and discarding your recovery phrase. Deleting an optional backup removes the stored ciphertext.
